The front yard of this charming farm style home was dominated by an overgrown oleander hedge that blocked out the light and obscured the front door.

In the process of removing the hedge,  workers unearthed an antique plow that had been completely hidden beneath the oleander since the previous owners had lived there.  We decided to make it a focal point of the garden and palnted a colorful mix of prairie flowers –  coneflower,  rudbeckia,  roses and daylilies.

A pathway of shredded bark winds through the yard,  and a classic park bench provides a welcome resting spot,  under mature shade trees.
