From The Ground Up
Landscape and Garden Design

Initial consultation

Initial meeting at the job site,  where we discuss your needs and priorities,  the ways you will use your outdoor space,  and site considerations  (shade,  tree roots,  views you want to screen out).  We also discuss budget and time frame.

Site Survey & Site Analysis

Photos and measurements of the house and property are taken and a rough sketch is drawn which shows general layout,  defines functional uses of the space,  and any problem areas that need to be addressed in the design.  At this point I will be able to give you an estimated cost for installation of the design.

Preliminary plan

A plan is drafted to scale,  with suggested hardscape elements  (patio,  decks,  seating areas)  and general types of plant material.

Final plan

This drawing will show the name of every plant and where it is to go in the design,  and will specify suggested hardscape materials.  It may also include concept sketches for certain details specified in the plan.

Installation

If you wish,  I can oversee installation of your landscape from start to finish.  If you would like me to personally handle your installation,  I charge an hourly rate of $85.00.  If you prefer to do your own installation,  I can recommend nurseries and professional craftspeople to help you get started.

Maintenance

We will draw up a list of any plants that we install in your garden,  with maintenance guidelines to help you keep your new garden looking its best.  Most of the gardens I design are low-maintenance,  and only require twice-yearly cutting back.
